Offices

Within office buildings, lighting management systems provide the flexibility and versatility of control demanded by contemporary organisations while also acting as energy-conscious guardians for the building. Systems provide benefits to all parties involved with the building (consultant, contractor and client) as well as at all stages of design & construction and throughout the lifetime of the building.

Flexibility and adaptability are of paramount importance and systems provide the ability to design, structure and “rewire” lighting through graphical software, liberating designers and clients from the rigidities and restrictions of traditional installation. Individual addressable switching and dimming of each luminaire enables switching arrangements to be configured through graphical software and be reconfigured to suit layout changes at any time during the life of the building.

Energy efficiency is enhanced through dimming which subtly reduces lighting levels in perimeter areas as well as by presence detection which relates lighting to occupation. Dimming empowers individuals with the ability to adjust lighting levels to suit their personal preference or task, while a mix-and-match range of local control devices includes switches, scene-set panels, presence detectors, multisensors, infra-red transmitters, telephone and web-browser control.

Animated graphics bring the installation to life. Head-end networked software manages and monitors the complete installation, collecting real-time data including the number of hours luminaires have been in operation, highlighting lamp failures, and centrally testing and monitoring emergency lamp operation. Alarms are flagged at the PC as well as relayed to mobile devices while remote monitoring enables systems in a number of buildings in a portfolio to be managed from a single central location.

Speculative buildings pose distinct challenges as the lighting design and system needs to cater for the needs of an unknown tenant or tenants. Delmatic’s latest systems enable developers to install a flexible basic scheme with tailored enhancements and customisation carried out by individual tenants.

Key system features within commercial buildings include:

  • Architectural dimming and scene setting
  • Central manual control
  • Corridor linking
  • Daylight linking
  • Emergency lighting test and monitoring
  • Fast installation
  • Hours run logging
  • Individual circuit control
  • Individual luminaire control
  • Lamp failure detection
  • Manual infra-red control
  • Movement/Presence detection
  • Solar control of external lighting
  • Time scheduling
